Achieving a natural set of eyebrows has never been easier. Microblading is perfect for clients who want to keep their brows looking natural. Maybe they are sparse and just need a little filling in, or they need more shape.

These are a subtle, natural brow made up of hair strokes, perfect for every day. Some clients may find they still need to apply make up for an evening out if they like a glam brow.

What is Microblading?

Microblading is a semi-permanent makeup procedure that allows reconstructing eyebrows fully. It is possible to achieve the most natural finish or a bolder looking brow. Eyebrow microblading is performed by manual deposit of pigment under the epidermal layer of the skin by a handheld manual tool, therefore, small discomfort during the procedure will be present as minor breakage of the skin is taking place.

Unlike permanent makeup brow treatment, microblading technique involves drawing individual, crisp hair strokes that are more natural looking. Microblades are several times thinner than the needles used for tattoos. Compared to hairstroke technique performed with a PMU machine, microblading strokes heal a lot thinner and crisper and do not blur. (Individual results vary due to skin type etc).

Microblading and manual tattoos have originated in Asia and became popular on a global level only several years ago.

We design the perfect eyebrows for each client and provide consultations where we listen carefully to your wants and needs. We provide the finest pigments and blades from the likes of Brow Daddy, Tina Davies and Permablend to give our clients the best results.

What Happens During Treatment?

Together we design and pre-draw a brow which is totally bespoke to you – your colour will be mixed from the highest quality pigments to match your skin and hair tone.

This requires no tattoo gun and no ink- you can hardly believe it's not real hair. To keep discomfort to a minimum, anaesthetic creams are used throughout the procedure.

The entire process takes between 1-2 hours and there is no down time.

Before Treatment

  • Do not exercise the day of the procedure.

  • Do not tan or have a sunburnt face.

  • Do not take Aspirin, Niacin, Vitamin E or Ibuprofen 24 hours before the procedure.

  • No alcohol or caffeine on the day of the procedure.

  • No waxing or tinting 3 days before.

  • It is best to have your eyebrows waxed or threaded 4-10 days before treatment. This cannot be done on the day as pigment can set where the hairs have been removed.

  • Please note that you will be more sensitive during your menstrual cycle.

After your microblading treatment the brows may appear dark, this is normal and the colour lightens A LOT over the healing process.

At Dani Louise Aesthetics we always choose a shade a little lighter than your own so that we can see how your skin takes to the pigment, if they need to go a shade or two darker this is easily done at the 6-8 week check up. This is easier and safer than going too dark and trying to lighten the brows.

  • No water, cleansers, creams, make-up or any other products on treated area for 10 days.

  • DO NOT rub, pick or scratch the treated area. Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate off. Picking can cause scarring.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 3-4 weeks after procedure.

  • Avoid heavy sweating for the first 10 days.

  • No facials, chemical treatments and microdermabrasion for 2-4 weeks.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

Microblading can last anywhere between 9 months and 3 years.

If you have extremely oily skin, microblading is not likely to last long and you may be more suited to ombre brows. Excessively oily skin can reject the pigment, the strokes can heal differently also and rather than looking like crisp strokes can look more powdered. If you do have oily skin and want to go ahead with microblading treatment, you must bear this in mind and also bear in mind you may need to have top ups more frequently than clients with normal or dry skin.

Other reasons why microblading may not be suitable for you:

  • Clients with very large pores on the forehead

  • Heavily sun-damaged skin

  • Delicate, fragile, sensitive or problematic skin.

  • Skin conditions like Eczema, Psoriasis, Rosacea, heavy Melasma etc that are present on the face will affect retention and longevity of microbladed brows.

This trend, which is also known simply as powder brows, mist brows or microshading, is a technique that was first developed in Asia, Just like the name suggests, the technique leaves powdery brows which resembles the makeup look of the eyebrows – a faded front and a crispy tail.

This eyebrow tattoo technique is practically for everyone, but it’s mostly popular for clients that want to fill your brows a bit more or achieve that glam makeup look.

Moreover, this is the procedure that’s also recommended for clients with oily skin, people who spend a lot of time in the sun and those who wear a lot of makeup on a daily basis. This means that if you want to have a certain brow touch up without the use of individual hair strokes – this is the procedure for you.

  • Avoid heavy Sunlight and sunburn 3 days before procedure.

  • Do not exercise the day of the procedure as the body heat will expand the pores.

  • Do not take Fish Oil or Vitamin E one week prior to the procedure. (natural blood thinners)

  • Do not wax or tint your eyebrows 3 days prior to the procedure. Should do this 4-10 days before.

  • Avoid Botox, Laser Treatments and Chemical Peels 4 weeks before treatment.

  • Do not drink alcohol 24 – 48 hours before.

  • Do not consume caffeine  before your procedure.

  • Do not take an Aspirin or Ibuprofen for pain relief (these also thin the blood) at least 48-72 hours prior to the procedure.

  • Wash your hair as you need to take extra care not to get your brows wet for several days.

After your ombre brow treatment, the brows can look quite dramatic and very dark. This is normal and the colour will fade during the healing process. A check up appointment 6-8 weeks later is included.

  • Use a fresh pillowcase while you sleep.

  • Let any scabbing or dry skin naturally exfoliate away. Picking can cause scarring or loss of colour.

  • No facials, Botox, chemical treatments or microdermabrasion for 4 weeks.

  • Avoid hot, sweaty exercise for one week.

  • Avoid direct sun exposure or tanning for 4 weeks after the procedure. Wear a hat when outdoors.

  • Avoid long, hot showers for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid sleeping on your face for the first 10 days.

  • Avoid face-down swimming, lakes, and hot tubs for the first 10 days,

  • Avoid topical makeup and sunscreen on the area.

  • DO NOT rub, pick, or scratch the treated area.

Combo brows are a microblading and ombre powder brow hybrid. They are similar to ombre brows but rather than a powdered effect at the front bulb of the brow, they are made up with strokes like microblading. The powder effect then continues throughout the brow to the end of the tail.

These are more suited for clients that want more than a natural brow but not as glam as the ombre powder brow.

The combination of microblading and powder brows creates a fluffy, textured and defined brow. Some clients like to have the strokes just at the front of the brow and the remaining powdered creating a super defined brow, other clients prefer hair strokes throughout with shading in between for depth and to keep them looking more natural.

Combination brows are suitable for most skin types. Pre and after care advice is the same for both combo brows and ombre brows.
